In trying to get the word out about domestic violence, several of the local DFCS offices are allowing me to put up bulletin boards in their hallways. Numerous clients will pass by these bulletin boards daily. Clients are urged to let their case worker know if they have had or are currently in a domestic violence situation. A DV assessment needs to be done on any and all who are receiving services from DFCS that disclose or give an indication that they are at risk of being abused. Safe Homes' information and phone number are posted as well in case clients do not want to disclose their abuse to DFCS staff. Confidentiality is key and a written authorization is needed for the DV TANF Assessor to discuss any client who has been referred by a DFCS case worker.
Special thanks to Richmond, Columbia and Warren County for allowing me to display this under- reported social issue that plagues so many in our area.
*Many thanks to
