Each year, an estimated three to four million women of all ages, occupation, and income levels are battered by their partners. Physical assault, however,
is only one of several forms domestic violence can take.
Women involved in violent relationships also endure psychological and emotional abuse, sexual assault, social isolation and intimidation.
SAFE-homes of Augusta is a not for profit organization that shelters women
and children that are victims of domestic violence. We are located in Augusta, GA. We serve
10 counties.
SAFE-homes of Augusta offers a variety of services to our clients:
- Safety and refuge in a home with 24-hour staffing, security, and special police attention.
- A supportive, non-judgmental environment for victims and their children who are living in fear in their homes.
- Advocacy and individual support for victims who are defining their needs and goals.
- Advocacy for children who need and want the opportunity to talk about their experiences.
- An extensive referral system providing access to health care professionals, counselors, job training professionals, Social Service agencies, etc.
- An on-site Court Advocate.
- Confidential weekly support groups.
- Outreach program.
- Parenting skills classes.
- Services for non-sheltered victims. Shelter staff will assist victims living in fear who are exploring their options.
- Services are provided regardless of a person's financial situation.
